Dikkie Dik | Playgroup
The playgroup offers care for children in the ages from 2 to 4 years old. We work in the group with permanent, experienced room leaders.
Playgroup Dikkie Dik works with small groups in close co-operation with the primary school next to it. This makes the transition from playgroup to primary school less impactful. We also offer an extended morning that fits in with the opening hours of the primary school.
The playgroup is opened on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM with the option to extend to 12:00 or to 14:00 PM.
We are closed during the holidays. If you would like to know more about this location or are interested in the possibilities for your child, then please contact us.
Children learn to share and play together at playgroup Dikkie Dik. We offer varied activities, based on a new theme every time. During the thematic period all children bring in an attribute that is connected to the theme and they are allowed to talk about this attribute within the circle. During this period, these attributes are laid down on the story table. This is how we stimulate the experience and fantasy of every toddler. Central to this are the development and interests of the child.
We regularly perform little stage-plays or organise presentations for parents. Every day we take a fresh look at what the toddlers need. We give each child the necessary confidence to try out new things. All developmental areas will be addressed by our choice of games, so the toddlers will be able to experience, learn and experiment with us. In the different play corners and on the large play cushions, the children are able to play together or by themselves with our large array of developmental tools. At the thematic table we play games, sing songs or make creative handiworks. We also discuss the theme of the moment at this table. We work from within small groups, so that enough attention will be paid individually. We finish the day with an activity at the small table, so that when parents come to collect their child, there is some room for a short conversation with the child care worker.
We have a large outdoor playing area with enough playing equipment, where we can be found regularly. We also have a big sandbox and a Wendy house with a slide. We make trips to, for instance, the children’s farm, playground, library or other places that fit a current theme well. During bad weather we are allowed to use the gym hall next door. After sitting down in a circle and carrying out the activities, we clean up together and go outside for a breath of fresh air, until it is time for lunch. After lunch there is usually still time for a game or another small activity indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather.
