Playful learning in the playgroup and the 3+group

Preparation for school
Preparing toddlers and pre-school children for school is an art form. Young children are developing and learning, by playing (together) with other children and adults, in a challengingly and child friendly organised area; in a safe and secure environment, where the parents are fully involved and can learn how to support their child in its development.

Two and three year-olds play joyfully and will feel extra nice because of the opportunities on offer and because of the area in which they play together. Even if they’re offered an additional opportunity just once a week, their development will progress in big leaps! For this reason, SKiK has a special offer to prepare them for primary school.

A playgroup in every centre of the rural district of Koggenland

The playgroup is open to all children from the rural district of Koggenland aged between 2 and 4 years old. The children go to the playgroup for two daily periods a week, 3 hours each. A child with a VVE-indication has, from the age of 2, the right to an additional 2 daily periods of 3 hours each every week.

The playgroups are divided into groups. A group (2 daily periods combined) consists of a maximum of 16 children with two permanent child care workers, often complemented by interns. Every group is offered a combination of two assigned daily periods. An overview of the groups, combinations of daily periods and the opening hours for each playgroup can be found at the locations.

3+group Berkhout
When they are three years old, children will go through a little developmental leap. They want to be challenged and play together more. A great need will arise to ‘learn’ more and to acquire certain skills. The children want to be taken seriously about this desire. At this age they increasingly notice the world around them and they have a growing desire to understand it. They practice all kinds of actions they see around them daily by role playing, such as buying something in a shop or going to the doctor’s.

For children aged 3 and up at DCC Gepetto en Playgroup Berkabouter, but also for children from other day-care centres or playgroups who will be registered at the Geert Holleschool, SKiK offers an extra daily period on Wednesday morning as a perfect preparation for primary school!
